Freedom: Best Documentary, Historical or True Crime at Warsaw Glitch 2026
Freedom, produced by James Drake Media and Creaite.me, was recognised by a jury of producers as the winner of Best Documentary, Historical or True Crime at the Ground Zero Edition. The film was also a finalist for Best Polish Film and part of the IPF Award official selection.
Inspired by the story and legacy of Tadeusz Kościuszko, Freedom takes an ambitious and unconventional approach to historical storytelling, blending live-action performance with generative filmmaking techniques to explore the past through a contemporary cinematic language. It follows one man's fight for equality across two nations, a story of courage, sacrifice and the enduring struggle for liberty. Executive producer: Thomas Righini Carrington; director: Marcin Rossa.
Second place in the category went to Elegy, a cinematic interpretation of the poetic legacy of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, one of the defining voices of the generation shaped by the Warsaw Uprising. Made by Adam Bayerski, Emilian Szopa, Maciej Żemojcin and Michał Siedlecki.
