Cloud storage that film crews use as the place where the material lives: dailies, cuts and graphics go up once and everyone works from the same file instead of a folder full of versions. Its review tools let a producer or a client leave a comment on a frame rather than in an e-mail, which is most of what post-production correspondence actually is. Dropbox was founded in 2007 by the MIT students Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi, with early funding from the Y Combinator accelerator, and is headquartered in San Francisco. It began as a simple way of keeping files in sync across devices, and the company now describes its mission as designing a more enlightened way of working, with products meant to cut busywork. Beyond file storage its range includes Replay, for reviewing and approving video faster, Sign, for requesting signatures, DocSend, for sending documents and tracking activity, Dash, for finding and protecting company content, and Reclaim.ai, which schedules habits, tasks and meetings with AI. Dropbox engineers also appear in the Warsaw tech scene: a software engineer from Dropbox's Test Toolchains team speaks at the WarsawJS meetup, another partner community of the festival.
