Intro to GenJam™ keynote (Machine Cinema)
An introduction to GenJam, that is, to what will be happening in Academy for the next few hours: the rules, the format, what is expected and how the work is judged. It is led by the Machine Cinema people who run this format around the world, so they also say what usually goes wrong and what the winning teams win with. Required for participants, worth it for anyone who wants to see a hackathon from the inside.

Entrepreneur, filmmaker and educator working at the intersection of AI, storytelling and culture. He is co-founder and Head of AI at the hybrid studio Fantastic Day and co-founder of Machine Cinema, the generative-AI filmmaking community where he runs the GenJam workshops. He was on the founding team of Vietcetera, a leading Vietnamese digital media platform that grew past twenty million monthly users, and earlier served as an executive director at Vertex Venture Holdings and editor-in-chief of Tech in Asia, interviewing leaders across the technology world.

Toronto-based creative director and brand strategist who leads marketing and creative at Fantastic Day, the interactive innovation studio, having built her career across brand, digital and e-commerce design. She has held roles at Shopify, NEXT Canada, Nuscreen and the audio platform Audiotorium, shaping digital strategy, new-media campaigns and brand experiences. Her practice bridges storytelling and product, connecting brands with audiences across web, social and commerce, and she now brings that strategic craft to teams exploring AI-driven creative work.
Affan Imran
CEO · Founder
Canadian entrepreneur and technologist, CEO and co-founder of Fantastic Day, an interactive innovation studio working across production, product and community with both full-AI and hybrid creative workflows. He spent more than a decade building digital agencies and creative ventures, co-founding Nuscreen in 2012 and later launching the audio platform Audiotorium. He is active in the international generative-AI filmmaking community, including the GenJam events, where crews build an entire short inside a single weekend.
