Kibera Frequencies

Radio Kibera has no licence, one microphone and an antenna built out of a bicycle wheel. Every night at nine, Achieng, Otieno and Baraka go on air for anyone within about two kilometres, which on a good night is a lot of people and on a bad night is four.

Then they run a story about a landlord. It travels further than the antenna ever could, and within a week the station has thousands of listeners and one very motivated enemy.

The three of them have to decide what the station is for. Baraka wants to keep going and get louder. Achieng wants to keep going and get careful. Otieno, whose rooftop it is, and whose mother has to live on this street afterwards, wants to talk about it properly before anyone touches the microphone again.
