Friday opens with a keynote by a legendary film director: The Age of Transhumanism. Who Are We Becoming?

Six decades of cin­e­ma, dozens of films, and a ca­reer that be­gan in the ex­act sci­ences: he takes the stage at 11:15, stays for a con­ver­sa­tion at 11:35 and for the pan­el on cre­ativ­i­ty as a com­mod­i­ty at 14:00. His pro­file is al­ready on the guest wall, in gold and with­out a name; we say who he is be­fore the fes­ti­val. The same af­ter­noon brings the Pol­ish pre­miere of URSULA, dir. Michał „OverJK” Owerczuk, win­ner of the Gen­Jam™ Di­rec­tor’s Cup, with a con­ver­sa­tion on the art of film right af­ter the screening.

The di­rec­tor was Krzysztof Zanussi, win­ner of the Gold­en Lion in Venice for A Year of the Qui­et Sun, mak­er of The Struc­ture of Crys­tal, Il­lu­mi­na­tion and Cam­ou­flage. Be­fore he stood be­hind a cam­era he stud­ied physics in War­saw and phi­los­o­phy in Krakow. His ad­dress, The Age of Transhumanism, came straight af­ter the quar­ter-hour festival opening.

In the af­ter­noon Zanus­si sat on the pan­el A Human Story, Typed on a Machine, pow­ered by Brainer, with Maciej Kawecki, pres­i­dent of the Lem In­sti­tute, and Michał "OverJK" Owerczuk. Ur­su­la took first place in the fi­nal jury rank­ing of the Gen­Jam Di­rec­tor's Cup, where Poland beat In­done­sia in the final.
