GenJam™ is the flagship format of Machine Cinema, a global ecosystem of more than 20,000 generative filmmakers founded by Minh Do and Fred Grinstein. The rules are simple: a clock, one theme, and at the end a finished short film or viral piece, screened and judged in front of the audience. Over three years Machine Cinema has run more than 200 GenJams in over 30 countries.
The Director's Cup is the same organisation's film tournament, in which national teams competed through consecutive rounds against the clock. Poland beat France, Nigeria and the United States, then Indonesia in the final; 510 films were made over the whole tournament. The highest-rated film of the final was Ursula, directed by Michał "OverJK" Owerczuk.
