The Age of Transhumanism
The address that opens the festival. Krzysztof Zanussi, who made The Structure of Crystal, Illumination and Camouflage and took the Golden Lion in Venice, came to cinema from physics and philosophy and has spent six decades asking one question: how is a person supposed to live. Now he puts it to the machine. This is not a forecast and not a verdict on technology, but a question about the line beyond which a tool stops being a tool and we stop being the authors of what gets made.
