Hou Zuxin is a director, screenwriter and singer from Beijing who gained international acclaim with her 2014 documentary short My Dad's a Rocker (David L. Wolper Award at the IDA Awards) and made her feature debut with the Chinese-Italian-German co-production The Italian Recipe (2022). A Message for the Butterfly (2026) is her first AI short, co-directed with Mark Wachholz, a Berlin-based screenwriter and AI filmmaker with over 20 years across TV, games and novels, known for The Cinema That Never Was (2025) and Céremony (2025).
