The Kererū Whisperer

Aroha can talk to kererū, the fat green wood pigeons of the New Zealand bush, which has never been useful to her until the week she learns that the forest behind her school is scheduled to be cleared.

The birds know something the consultation documents do not mention. With a bad-tempered tūī and a brother who thinks she is making the whole thing up, she sets out to prove the forest is worth more standing, which turns out to require paperwork as well as courage.
