Synopsis
Anna comes back from the city for her mother's funeral and finds her younger brother gone, last seen walking downstream along a channel with no water in it.
She follows. The heat bends the horizon, old boats sit bleached in the dust, and everyone she meets along the riverbed has lost something to the drought. They all tell her the same thing, in the same flat voice: the river did not leave. It was taken.
